When I called up my
friend Dan Fuhs and told him that Todd Tyler was going to donate
another hunt to the 2009 HDC and asked if he wanted to bid on it with
me, without hesitation he said, "I'm in." Both Dan and I have hunted
with Todd numerous times but he always told us, "You think this is
good ... you need to be here around the full moon at the end of October or beginning of November." Well, we were
this year and Todd was correct. Even though the days we hunted were in the
middle of a stretch of pretty benign weather conditions, there was a constant
movement of migrating birds. Over the two days we harvested 47 ducks (gadwalls, widgeons, bluebills, spoonies, mallards, pintails, hooded mergansers and greenwing teal) and 10 geese (whitefronts, canadians and a ross). We were able to hunt with several "Tyler
Blind Members Regulars" and the verbal jabs and "volleys across the bows" were
as constant as the birds coming up the river. It was truly a treat to
be able to hunt with Todd and his bunch again. Doug Steinke
